SUMMARY: Hillcrest Hoedown
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp;        In it's second annual return, Hillcrest presented another year of the Hoedown! We embraced the fall the season with our inspired street festival on Sunday, October 7 from 1 pm to 9:30 pm. We invited San Diego into the heart of eastern Hillcrest on University Avenue between Normal Street and Vermont Avenue. The Hoedown featured a grand stage with a country themed line up all day long, and line-dancing lessons on the hour.    We hosted a 21+ Street Side Saloon and a huge country style dance floor. This event was friendly for all ages. Resting spots were available for those who wished to cop a squat on a hay bail by the dance floor and watch all the action!     If your cowboy boots were feeling too broken in, we hope you were able to take a stroll to the Furry Foster Humane Petting Zoo and 'ou and ah' at all the rescue cuties. Furry Foster joined the Hoedown this year for an adoption event you didn't wanna miss. We were happy to see some furry little lives saved and adopted Sunday.        Furry Foster is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the euthanasia   of adoptable pets by connecting homeless pets with loving foster homes.   FOSTERING A free, fun, &amp; fulfilling alternative to adoption.     &nbsp;          &nbsp;    This year past dusk, Hoedown attendees hit the casino tables in our free streetside saloon, cowboys and cowgirls were dealing up blackjack, craps and roulette from 5:30 - 9:30 PM on the streets of Hillcrest. And DJ's spun country style dance music from 6:30 - 9:30 PM!    &nbsp;    Hillcrest Hoedown's Grand Stage was sponsored by San Diego's very own, Urban Kickers. We were joined by M.C. Laura Jane and D.J. Jim Blair with entertainment beginning at 1pm. Hold onto your horses Hillcrest, take a look at the mighty fine lineup we had:     1:00 - Square Dance Exhibition &amp; Lessons by the Finest City Squares   1:45 - California Rhythm Project   2:00 - "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" presented by Coronado Playhouse   2:15 - San Diego City Councilmember Todd Gloria   2:30 - Clogging Exhibition &amp; Lessons by Lelia Hunsaker   3:05 - Ezekiel Jay   4:00 - Line Dance Lesson w/ Scott E. Grant   4:15 - Urban Kickers   4:45 - Line Dance Lesson w/ Scott E. Grant   5:00 - Three Chord Justice   5:45 - Twisted Movement   6:00 - Open Line Dancing   6:15 - Three Chord Justice   7:00 - Dance Party @ dusk!    We hope you were able to meet us out &amp; about as we hit the streets of Hillcrest for our Hoedown Activation Parties! If you got to chat it up with our street team and you might have left with some treasured goods. DESCRIPTION:For the second year in a row, stay past sundown and dance with Hillcrest's best DJ's under the Hillcrest sign with CITYFEST NIGHT! CityFest takes place in the heart of Hillcrest and is a huge celebration of community spirit through music, arts, crafts, and food and attracts 150,000+ attendees each year. CityFest 2013 will be on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 12 p.m. - 10 p.m. 2012 marks the 29th year that Hillcrest will host the major street fair known as CityFest. With a rich history of community and spirit, Hillcrest has much to celebrate. Games, activities, over 250 vendors, live headliner music, a beer garden (where this year you can buy discounted drink tickets in advance) and much more, CityFest is a celebration of spirit and play each year in San Diego, California. PARKING INFORMATION: CityFest attendees are encouraged to take our shuttle by parking at 4100 Normal Avenue at the eastern end of Hillcrest at the San Diego School District Building. The CityFest shuttle will drop attendees off in the heart of the festival at 6th and Robinson and will run the route from noon until 8 PM. DESCRIPTION:    Q: Are booths still available?    A: Yes, booths are available.  But get in your application quickly before all the spaces fill up and you'll pay a late fee after July 15.    &nbsp;    Q:  When is the application deadline?    A:  The deadline is July 15, 2013.  Applications submitted after July 15 will be subject to a late application fee and will be filled based on availability. Please note, absolutely no food vendors will be accepted after July 24, 2013.    &nbsp;    Q:  Is there a map I can view to decide which area is right for me?  A:  Yes! There is a visitor map you can use to orient yourself. Click through the image below to see our visitor map for 2011.  &nbsp;    Q:  Can I request a position for my booth?    A:  Yes you may.  All you have to do is make a note on your application requesting an area you would like and we will do our best to accommodate you.    &nbsp;    Q:  How do I know if I am a community sponsor?    A: You are a community sponsor if your business is not a non-profit organization and you are not selling a product or service in which the customer leaves with a product in hand.  You are a community sponsor if you are a bank, power supply company, eco services, remodeling company, real estate, vacation company, water supply, etc.    &nbsp;    Q:  I am a non-profit organization.  Which category do I fall under?    A:  If you are a non-profit organization, you will complete the Arts &amp; Crafts application.  When filling out the application you will check the non-profit box in the description section.    &nbsp;    Q:  I sell clothing, jewelry, shoes, trinkets, etc.  do I fall under the Arts &amp; Crafts umbrella?    A:  Yes!  If you are not selling food and do not fit the Community Sponsor description then you are considered an Arts &amp; Crafts vendor.    &nbsp;    Q:  I am an Arts &amp; Crafts vendor.  Where do I apply for a California Seller's Permit    A: You can visit the California Seller's Permit Application website and download the form to complete and send to us.    &nbsp;    Q: I am a Food vendor and I am not sure if I am fully in compliance.    A: You can download Food Vendor Guidelines here and double check.    &nbsp;    Q:  How many people attend CityFest?    A:  We expect about 150,000 attendees throughout the day at CityFest.    &nbsp;    Q:  When will I know what time to arrive and set up?    A:  We will be sending out a packet via email 2-4 weeks before the day of the event with all the information of your location and setup and load out times.
